About The Area

Described by Yahoo Travel as one of California's "Best Kept Secrets", Hollywood Beach gets its name from its 1920 connection to the glamour of Hollywood. Various actors have been connected to Hollywood Beach including RudolphValentino (whose movie, The Shiek, was filmed in nearby dunes), Clark Gable, and Charlie Chaplin.

Hollywood Beach is a peninsula which is home to single- family beach houses as well as the HarborWalk Condominium Complex, various yacht clubs, boat docks, a popular Sunday Farmers' Market, casual and fine dining, and the much sought-after Hollywood Beach Elementary School.

This stretch of land is bordered westerly by the ocean, and by the Channel Islands Harbor on the east side. The harbor is enjoyed by boaters, kayakers, stand-up-paddle-boarders, as well as harbor seals, sea lions, birds and other sealife.

Families, surfers, and sun bathers enjoy the spacious, never crowded beach sand that starts on the south end with the Channel Islands harbor mouth and runs north ending at the Embassy Suites Hotel at Mandalay.

Before the Channel Islands Harbor was build, Hollywood-By-The-Sea included parts of both Hollywood Beach and SilverStrand Beach. It's this connection to the Silver Screen that brought about the name the SilverStrand Beach. This family-filled beach begins on the south side of the Channel Islands Harbor and continues south to the Port of Hueneme. Spend time on this beach and you can watch giant shipping boats travel to the port, surfers catching some of California's finest waves, spectacular views of the Channel Islands, and many families enjoying the summer sun.

The area has various restaurants, a yoga studio, as well as multiple surfing and life-guarding camps during the summer season, and is home base to Oxnard's Coast Guard.

Beginning north of the Embassy Suites at Mandalay Beach and the popular Oxnard Beach Park, the Oxnard Shores (also called Mandalay Shores) has the most single-family homes and the largest lots of all the beaches in Oxnard. Enjoy amazing views of the sunset from this beautiful, spacious, family-friendly and uncrowded beach.
